History

The Coastal and Marine Research Group (CMRG) was formed in 2004 and granted full research group status by the RGS in 2010.    Membership of the group spans a wide range of backgrounds from physical, human and cultural geography, as well as practitioners working in applied contexts.  Through international and national conferences, meetings and collaborations, the CRMG has sought to advance the understanding of seas and coasts in geographical scholarship, and to apply this knowledge to the unique challenges of the blue planet.
